Cajón del Maipo & Winery Tour

On this perfect day trip to the Cajón del Maipo Tour, we combine a wonderful day outside with breathtaking views of the wild untamed nature of the Cajon del Maipo with a winery tour and tasting. We first visit a boutique winery located in the Maipo Valley followed by a wine tasting and lunch in a traditional Chilean restaurant. After lunch lunch we will follow the course of the river and drive into the lush Maipo Valley.

We have a brief stop in the old settlement village of San José (dating back from 1792). Then a stroll on the local piazza and a look at the local church before we continue our tour in the Cajón del Maipo. After exploring we will have some time for some nice refreshments and to stretch our legs, before we slowly make our way back to Santiago.

More about this amazing place: millions of years ago, the Cajón del Maipo was submerged under seawater and you can see the evidence of this by the interesting rock formations and various fossils dating back to that era. The roads of the valley where we will drive through was once formed the bottom of the ocean….

The first inhabitants of the area were the Chiquillanes Indians but also traces of the Incas have been found in that area, like a mummy which now can be seen in the National Museum of Natural History. Other interesting mummy sites, as of the Chinchorro Indians,  can be found in northern Chile, in the Atacama desert.

Pick up

You will be picked up at 09.00 and returned by 18.00 to your hotel. Driving time is about 1.5 hours from Santiago.
